MOORSIDE HARVEST COMMUNITY CHURCH
THE CHURCH IN A CRICKET CLUB

Thi’v Started A Church Down at ’Club
Eh Ethel!
I’ve just taken ‘dog fer ‘er Sunday walk
Down t’lane an round th’owd bowlin’ green
An as a was passin’ t‘club ‘ouse on t’ left
A saw t’funniest sight that a’v seen
They were singin’ an’ clappin’ an laikin’ about
An’ givin’ each other an ‘ug.
If a didn’t know better a’d say, ‘bout a doubt,
They’ve started a Church down at t’club.
O Eric!
Tha’ don’t ‘alf talk some twaddle!
A’ve never ‘eard owt quite s’daft
A Church down at t’club? Don’t be silly!
Shut thy gob lad tha’s makin’ a draft!
Eh Ethel!
I’m not talking daft! go an see it.
So she reached for ‘er coat with a shrug.
If a’m goin’ we’re goin’ together
To look at this church in a club.
An as they drew nearer and nearer,
They were met wit’ t’strangest of sounds;
The singin’ of ‘ymns growin’ clearer
As it drifted cross th’owd cricket ground.
